Lawyers representing the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have reportedly warned former presidential candidate Roberty Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wineagainst any plans to withdraw his presidential petition.
There have been scattered rumors that Bobi Wine was being pressured to withdraw the petition he filed challenging last month’s presidential election results that gave President Yoweri Museveni a win.
Last week, Bobi Wine threatened to withdraw the petition if judges continued to reject his attempts to give more evidence.
However, reports indicate that NRM lawyers have warned Bobi against any plans to withdraw, reminding him of the processes and costs involved.
According to the head of the NRM legal team Oscar Kihika, if Bobi Wine withdraws the case, the court must be convinced to accept his request even though it’s his right to do so. Kihika made the remarks during the party’s weekly press briefing at their party headquarters at Nakasero.
