NRM presidential candidate, President Yoweri Museveni has said Karamoja region is safe because of the wise decisions taken by the ruling government which have yielded many fruits.

Speaking to NRM leaders from the Karamoja districts of Amudat, Napak, Moroto, Nabilatuk and Nakapiripirit at Moroto Boma ground, the President said the government decided to choose decisions that earlier governments had ignored to ensure there is stability all over the country.

“Uganda, and not only Karamoja had become ungovernable, but the problem of lack of peace had also been ongoing for over 500 years even before the British came. When the British left, the situation even got worse. The whole system collapsed,” the NRM presidential candidate told the party leaders from Karamoja.

“There was instability before, during and after colonization because the biggest problem was not defining what was important for society. “

Museveni also called on the people of Karamoja to elect leaders who have the people’s interests at heart and are able to equally distribute resources for priority government programs and are incorruptible.

“If we do that the sky is the limit,” he emphasized.

He said NRM has always emphasized the interests of the people as opposed to their identity that is why it was able to build a strong army as well as create unity in the politics of the country leading to the restoration of peace in Uganda.

“We believed in the interest of the people that is why we were able to build a strong army and also create unity in politics that brought peace that has attracted very many investors,” he said.
