As Ugandans continue to yearn for the reopening of places of worship even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt all over the country, the Ministry of Health has started training clergy from different religious denominations on what to follow when the ban on congregational worship is eventually lifted.
The seventh-Day Adventist Church has adopted the Ministry’s Standard Operating Procedures that will, among others, see a ban on Sabbath or Sunday School meetings for children.
This took place when the leaders of Born-Again Federation were meeting with the newly elected MRM vice person Central region in Kampala.
The ministry of health has drafted a set of guidelines that have to be followed in case the ban on places of worship is lifted.
The ministry said in case places of worship are cleared, worshipping places must observe the ministry of health guidelines.
Some of the standard operating procedures are; worshipers without masks will not be allowed, adapting worshipping in shifts, having register to record the details of the worshipers.
Other measures include, ensuring social distancing in the sitting pews, having temperature gun at the designate entry points, ensuring the flow of water in the rest room and having isolation rooms for COVID-19 suspects.
The ministry also suspended the sharing of microphones and Bibles among others
The ministry said at the moment children are not allowed to attend Bible Classes.
