Minister for Karamoja Affairs Eng. John Byabagabi has lost the vote of becoming the NRM flag bearer of Ibanda South for the 5th consecutive time.

Byabagabi lost the Dr. John Paul Ninkusiima who is famously known by his village name Panadol.

Byabagambi polled 12,534 (41.15%) votes while Panadol triumphed with 15,983 votes.  (52.47%)

Upon receiving the shocking news, the defeated, dejected, devastated and disappointed Byabagambi ordered the management of his Ibanda based Eiraka radio not to announce Panadol’s Victory.

On the side of the supporters in Mabonwa where minister Byabagambi hails from, jubilations and ululations took the toll of the night in the trading centre that is well known in Ibanda for producing the best distilled Kasese waragi commonly known as Embandule.

“We have been drinking all day and night celebrating the loss of our own Byabagambi,” said a resident of Mabonwa who preferred not to disclose his name in fear of being bewitched by Byabagambi diehards.

He further added that; “He has done nothing for us, we are still poor surviving on selling this distilled Waragi yet he is always in Kampala playing golf and speaking vulgar the Serena Kigo Golf course.

It should be remembered that Byabagambi is a brother to retiring Ibanda District LC5 boss, Melichaidis Kazwenje who had had ruled the district for 15years.

Byabagambi joined parliament in 2001 and has since served as the Minister of Works and transport and currently the minister of Karamoja affairs.

It is worth noting that Minister Byabagambi once advised the people of Uganda to eat locusts as a way of fighting the swarm from destroying their crops.
