UCU Students To Have Exams in 2 Weeks

1 Mins read

The Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University (UCU), Associate Prof Aaron Mushengyezi, has informed students that they’re to start examinations on 15th September.

His remarks come shortly after the National Council for Higher education cleared the university to pursue their online learning amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The university had initially wanted its students to have online exams when the lockdown was put but they were stopped by the Ministry of Education

While addressing the media, Mushengyezi said the students who have been cleared to resume studies are those that are undertaking health-related courses and training.

Prof Mushengyezi said the university is well prepared to carry on with examinations and all students will be reached out wherever they are.

“The National Council for Higher Education cleared us on the School of Medicine, so we call upon our medical students and dentists to prepare,” Prof Mushengyezi said.

The deputy vice chancellor in charge of Academics Dr John Kitayimbwa said that UCU had partnered with MTN and the students will only have to buy an MTN SIM card and connect to UCU academic servers to access the learning and exam materials.

He said that at least 92% of all UCU students have access to internet via smartphones and or laptops.

“Examination materials will be delivered to their homes but students should also take responsibility and get in touch with the university,” Dr. Kitayimbwa said.

Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration David Mugawe noted that students will only pay functional fees and not full tuition fees.
