Kitgum Prison Closed As More Inmates Test Positive For COVID-19

Kitgum prison has been closed after 6inmates tested positive for COVID-19.

This was revealed by the Prisons police spokesperson Frank Baine in a weekly press briefing at Uganda Media Centre on Monday.

“After some sample taking, results came that we had some six cases in Kitgum prison,” said Baine before adding that;

“With effect from today, we are opening Padel. 138 prisoners were in Kitgum and 6 were positive.”

It is worth noting that in Amuru prison, Amuru district, they also recorded 3 cases and they are among the contacts of the previous cases.

“We found out that some other 3 cases emerged plus 1 case of a staff child.”

It should be remembered that a few weeks ago, Uganda Prisons registered 153 cases of COVID-19 in Amuru prison.
