No Lockdown- Acheng

1 Mins read

The Minister of Health in Uganda, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng has revealed that there is no decision made to reinstate another lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Since the lockdown was partially lifted, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases within Uganda especially in the city centre.

Many people have been worried that the government might be forced to enforce the lockdown again since people have relaxed in following the guidelines that the ministry put up.

According to Acheng, the ministry and the national COVID-19 task force are working to see that the curve flattens for now.

She also said that she was not aware of any address from the president this week yet many people have been spreading information that he would address the nation today.

However the minister said that even if the lockdown isn’t put, people need to adhere to the SOPs put up by the Ministry of Health to reduce on the spread of the virus in the public.

“It appears to me that some people fear the lockdown more than the disease itself. Let everyone follow the guidelines and protect themselves from the disease and there will be no need for another lockdown,” she said

Uganda currently has 2,362 confirmed cases with 22 deaths.
