NRM Schedules Party Primaries To Start On 4th September

The NRM’s Electoral Commission under the leadership of Dr. Tanga Odoi has scheduled 4th September as the day to have countrywide primaries. 

In the primaries, several members of the party are expected to contest in various positions as party flag-bearers in their regions.

This was announced by the Deputy Secretary-General of the National Resistance Movement, Richard Todwong as he read out the revised Electoral Road map and the dates set out there under for the party’s primaries.


In his address, he stated that the Members of Parliament including those of new Constituencies and Women MPs would have their primaries conducted on 4th September, Sub county Special Interests Groups committees on 6th September.

LCV Chairpersons, City Lord Mayor, City Mayors, District/City directly elected Councillor and district/city woman Councillor will have theirs on 11th September.

 Municipality/City division Mayor, Municipal woman councilor on 14th September and LCIII Chairperson/Town council Mayor/Municipal division chairperson.

However, many people continue to question if at all Uganda will have next year’s general elections with the current COVID-19 situation in the country.
