Uganda Registers 2 More COVID-19 Deaths

The Ministry of Health has on today confirmed two more deaths of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths in Uganda to 9.

According to the statement released on Monday afternoon,the two deaths are a 27-year old male from Kyangwali Refugee Settlement Camp in Hoima District who died at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and the second victim is a 46-year-old male resident of Kampala who died at Nsambya Hospital.

The deceased had signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and results from the laboratories confirmed SARS-COV2.

Meanwhile, the ministry announced that Uganda also registered 14 new Coronavirus infections after samples tested on August,9, 2020.

“Of the two truck drivers, one arrived from Kenya via Malaba while one arrived from Democratic Republic of Congo via Goli point of entry,” the statement read.

Of the 11 new cases, 9 are contacts to previously confirmed cases from Kampala Metropolitan area, one from Ntungamo and one from Hoima while the other two form truck drivers who arrived via Malaba and Goli points of entry

Uganda has so far registered only nine deaths since the first Coronavirus case was recorded in March, 2020.
