Such action has been condemned by the public and human rights activists while others are demanding that the LDU should be suspended.

But while addressing the media in Kampala, The LDU spokesperson Maj Bilal Katamba regretted the actions of some of these officers noting that their men work on standing operating orders.

He said that LDUs are always breifed before the operation and those who operates against the command will be apprehended and duly punished.

“We condemned in the strongest terms the actions of those individuals security personnel whether LDU or UPDF among others that keep on doing such great mistakes,” he said.

He noted that there is plan to make these LDUs undergo more training to supplement their military based training in carrying out lawful operations.

“There are specialised training that we are organizing for examples that of intelligence, investigation and that of operation, so we are going to give them more training,” he said.
