The State of anti corruption Unit has arrested a one Archillies Byamukama for impersonating as a medical doctor at Mulago Kawempe hospital.
Byamukama was arrested following the tip by a whistle blower as he was accused of extorting money from the patients by pretending and impersonating as a doctor at the facility.
Byamukama who confessed to not being a medical personnel accepted that he received the money from different patients at the hospital.
The executive director Mulago Kawemepe hospital, Nakemiah Kastusiime, said the hospital has over the time registered cases on impersonators.
“The extortion of money from the patients had been so stressing as far as I am concerned because almost everyday there is an issues of extortion from patients. We have talked and we have suspended many people,”he said.
He said that after noticing the increase on the vice, he had to petition the anti corruption unit for help.
He noted that Byamukama had set up his pharmacies after collecting a lot of money from the patients. He added that the suspect has been handed over to the CID for further investigations
“According to the hospital administration,this man had been around the facility. It was not first time and we shall not keep deaf hears this time for such actions at the hospital, “he noted.
