NRM Party leaders in the Rwenzori region have condemned Lt Gen. Henry Tumukunde’s move to run for Presidency.
They however acknowledged that the move is the proof of the open political climate that the NRM should be appreciated for.
These remarks were made during a mobilization meeting of NRM coordinators Rwenzori region held in Kabarole District.
The deputy Attorney General Jackson Rwakafuzi said :”You remember in 2016, Tumukunde was here campaigning for Museveni, now he has turned against him that is the infighting, Iam talking about and that’s not good for development.”
He advised the members with personal issues to always sit with people concerned so that such matters can be addressed amicably.
“The peace you are enjoying ,there are people who died for it.there are families that lost their relatives and you are enjoying the peace,” he said.
Milly Babalanda the presidential advisor said : “it is not possible for all Ugandans to belong in one party. If one decides to go another way, don’t hate or discriminate against them.let them enjoy the freedom of existing in the country.”
Kawamala Misaki, the Resident District commissioner of Kyegegwa, advised the party members to stop internal bickering because it frustrates unity, peace and development.
“Someone goes to the television and talks about the colleagues, they are working with at national level. Isn’t that bickering and infighting because someone makes a statement and another one comes and opposes,” he said.
He noted that the infights among the party members is not healthy and must stop with immediate effect.
Saleh Kamba ,NRM mobilizer said:”We are trying to see how best we can interlink the party organ from national to village level.”
He also said that there has been a gap between the leaders and the local people but now the coordinators are working hard to bridge that gap.
