The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubajje has re-emphasized his directive to the regional Kadhis to conduct regular meetings in their areas of jurisdiction to enhance service delivery.
He said leadership is difficult if a leader doesn’t engage with followers.
Equally, followers won’t get what they need if they don’t engage with their leader.
He cited some of the purposes for these regular meetings.
“Meetings are great for building supportive relationships – team giving team members a place to help each other and offer their support.
“They’re vital for learning about our colleagues’ motivations, fears, hopes, troubles. 55% of any communication is conveyed through non-verbal means, and face-time is the only way you can read it.
“Meetings provide people with a ‘safe’ environment, it’s an opportunity to share information which one wouldn’t be so comfortable sharing by email, or in a report.
“Meeting is a level playing field and an open forum, everybody present shares the same opportunity to communicate and listen.
“They play a vital role in leadership, the team leader uses team meetings to rally the troops, clarify the mission, and everybody’s part in it.
“Meetings create an air-pocket for attendees to focus on something else, and work on cross-functional tasks together.
“They create a space for giving each other feedback members can use meetings to offer feedback to each other, as long as it is pitched at the right level.”
The Mufti said this while delivering his message at Regional Kadhis meeting at UMSC headquarters today 04th 03 2020.
He added that he was overwhelmed by Muslims support to the newly created regional structure which was evident in the big gatherings that attended regional Kadhis inaugural ceremonies in different parts of the country.
Mubajje said that this support expectation will be achieved by delivering service to them and the best tool is to have regular meetings to formulate policies and strategies of development.
He also called upon Regional Kadhis to allocate sites to UMSC headquarters for the construction of regional offices.
This meeting was also attended by The Deputy Muftis Sheikh Abdallah Semambo among others.
