Sheikh Masudi Mutumba was reportedly shot dead at his home in Busimba village, Iwemba Parish at around 9:45pm last night.
The Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament, Asuman Basalirwa reported that an unidentified person armed with a gun got to the imam’s residence and shot him.
Some of the residents reported that the Imam was resting outside of his house when the hit man shot him several times. By the time the police arrived, the body was still at the scene.
The police are looking into evidence to identify this hit man. They advised the residents to be more security conscious and work together with the police giving as much information as they can about the threats in the community.
