Former presidential candidate, Retired Militant Gen. Benon Biraro passes away

The retired general has passed away today at Kampala hospital. Reports say he have been battling colon cancer for the past two years but after several treatments and procedures, the disease claimed his life today.

Born on March 1, 1958, Benon Biraro has died at age 61. He was a former ranking commander in Uganda People’s Defence Forces. He also served as the commandant of the Uganda Senior Command and staff college in Kimaka, Jinja.

He studied at Makerere University where he graduated with a bachelor of Arts in Political Science and later joined Cranfield University where he graduated with a Masters in Global Strategic Studies.

The rate was also in the race for the presidential seat in the elections 2016.
