February is the month of love and 14th February is the day of love,(valentine’s day). Often people tend to panic wondering what to get their partners and even after putting effort, it turns out to be a disappointment. So here are a few tips on how to make it easy on you and have a great time while at it.
- Understand your partner’s love language.
There are people that value quality time, others value gifts, dates , vacations name it. So taking your lover on a romantic date when they would rather be home cuddled up in sweatpants eating chicken straight out of the bucket with you might not be a great move. Try to understand the kind of person you are dating , their preferences or you could ask them directly what they would love to do and that will surely make them smile.
2. Make it personal
Instead of having a normal valentine’s card from the shop, try to send a handwritten card with your own words describing how you feel. For the lucky ones that are able to cook you could make a dinner and give the house a different look to make it more special.
3. Put in some effort
You know that delivery guy you always send to deliver the gifts? This time round, be your own delivery guy and show up at their work place or their house with that special package that you have put together for them. You don’t have to wait for 14th to make it special, you can choose to make the whole of next week about your partner. Send a few love notes, throw in some gifts once and take them out.
4. Men love gifts too
We have built a tradition where men are usually the one to give and women receive all the love on this day. Well ladies it is time to also change that, take him for a treat, buy him a gift basket (wallet, belt, a bottle of his favorite whisky etc) and so many other ways to show him you care. And if you’re up for it, buy him the latest gadget he has been eyeing or won’t shut up about.( if you can afford it)
5. Finally, don’t go broke trying to prove a point.
Well this advice is directly to those that are always trying to impress and at the end of the day they are left with empty pockets. Even on a low budget, you can make the day special because there are many places offering discounts on that day so look them up or create your own gift on that low budget. There is life after valentine’s day!
