The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is set to hold their National Delegates Conference this Friday January 24, 2020 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The Chairperson of the party Electoral Commission Dr Tanga Odoi has revealed that each invited delegate will receive Ugx200,000 as transport refund for attending the event.

“Anyone who hates money should not be in a capitalist society. Every delegate will get a transport refund of Shs200,000,” said Tanga Odoi while appearing on NBS TV.

Tanga Odoi also said they expect over 16,000 delegates, this means the party will cash out over Ugx3 billion on transport refund alone.

“All NRM legislators have been invited. We expect over 16,000 delegates. Registered political parties have been invited. We have foreign delegates who are yearning to come and attend. They want to learn what NRM is doing differently,” he said.

On where the party gets the money from to fund their activities, Tanga Odoi said they have donors who willingly offer financial support to various party activities.

Tanga Odoi said the purpose of the conference is not for the election of party leaders. They shall be talking about constitutional review and audit account on how far the party has gone regarding their manifesto.
