Museveni Contributes Shs100million To Rwashamaire Catholic Church

President Yoweri Museveni has contributed Shs.100 million to Rwashamaire Catholic Church Centre in Ntungamo district during a fundraising drive at which his portrait alone fetched Shs.17 million.

The President, who participated in the fundraising drive today to complete the church building that is located in Rwashamaire township in Kajara County of Ntungamo District, assured Kagamba Parish priest, Rev. Fr. Aliphonce Mukundane that he will also support the Parish development model farm.

Mr. Museveni used the occasion to advise the people of Uganda, especially those in the agricultural sector, to increase production and also consider value addition to those products bearing in mind the existing global market trends and challenges involved.

“Now that Ugandans have woken up on improved quantity of production, focus should be on the global market; borrowing the leaf from government which helped in the processing of milk into powder form for export so as to help farmers avert the challenge of low prices of milk at the time,” he said.

Mr. Museveni expressed happiness that the efforts put into the promotion of education along with religious knowledge, has made great contribution to the general development of the country particularly in the appreciation by the people of the need to eradicate household poverty.

Fr. Mukundane, on behalf of Mbarara Archdiocesan Prelate, the Most Rev. Paul Bakyenga, commended the President and the NRM Government’s appreciation of the role played by the church in the development of Uganda.

Ntungamo District LC5 Chairperson, Singahakye Denis, lauded Government for the infrastructure development in the area.

He, however, called on government to help in the establishment of a banana juice factory in order to produce wine as a means of empowering farmers derive high value returns from their agricultural activities.

The area MP, Hon. Michael Kamugisha Timothy, stressed the need to fight against corruption.
