Minister Lokodo to Re table The Anti Homosexuality Bill

1 Mins read

Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Fr Simon Lokodo is preparing to re table the anti-homosexuality bill that was quashed by constitutional court in 2014 on a technicality that it was passed without quorum in parliament.

“Homosexuality is not natural to Ugandans, but there has been a massive recruitment by gay people in schools, and especially among the youth, where they are promoting the falsehood that people are born like that,” Ethics and Integrity Minister Simon Lokodo said.

He added that; “Our current penal law is limited. It only criminalises the act. We want it made clear that anyone who is even involved in promotion and recruitment has to be criminalised. Those that do grave acts will be given the death sentence.”

It has now been revealed that Minister Lokodo has been lobbying MPs to support his bill that will criminalize gay acts.

“We have been talking to the MPs and we have mobilised them in big numbers,” said Lokodo adding that; “Many are supportive.”

It is worth noting that lawmakers passed a bill in 2014, then okayed to by president Museveni and it was later quashed by constitutional court.
