Police on Sunday arrested events promoters Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo and Abbey Musinguzi also commonly known as Abitex for organising an event that had been blocked.

The concert dubbed “Kyepukulu” was organised at Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

The two promoters had received information about the cancelation of their concert but decided to proceed with the event.

When Bajjo arrived at the venue before his arrest, he was allowed the entry to the venue however, he was immediately arrested and bundled into police vehicle.

A few minutes later his friend Abitex also arrived at the venue and told the media that police are known for their actions of blocking concerts and that is what he expects from them.

“As you know police is known for causing chaos and blocking concerts. We are ready to attend the event but the police are here, I have just arrived and I was informed that Bajjo is inside the stadium,” he noted.

As he was still addressing the journalists police came and took him way.

The deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that the two promoters have been held at Jinja Road police station.

He noted that the duo was arrested on suspicion of inciting violence.

He further noted that the two promoters have failed to meet security requirements and stubbornly insisted that they would host the event.

“Their concert they had scheduled at stadium was not going to be there because of some issues they had not fulfilled,” he said.

This is not the first-time police has blocked an event organized by the two promoters. In April, Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga concert scheduled to be held in Busabala was blocked among many concerts.

The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwogo who is their lawyer visited them late in the evening to try and secure their release.
