Army Court Remands 5 Over Mobile Money Murders And Robberies

Ealier today, five people including Edward Mubaale, Issa Ntale, Denis Mwangusho, Bob Anichan, Stanley Mulunda were arraigned before the army court chaired by Lt.Gen.Andrew Gutti and charged with the murder of Harriet Nalwadda, and Maureen Nakabuubi at Kirimanyaga village in Zzana, Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso district and robbed an unspecified amount of money.

The group was also charged with the murder of Raphael Walugembe and the robbery of Shs610, 000 on May 14 at Nateete Church Zone in Rubaga division.

Prosecution alleged that the accused and others still at large carried out several attacks on mobile money points, killed agents and stole huge sums of money using guns. These allegations where however denied by the suspects.

The state prosecutors led by Lt Col Raphael Mugisha asked the court to adjourn the matter to August 6 because investigations are still ongoing.

They were later remanded to Luzira prison.

It should be remembered that in the past two months, over 10 mobile money points have been attacked, agents killed and huge sums of money robbed.
