Uganda ambassador to Burundi, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza has taken a swipe at the Members of Parliament for moving a motion to have him recalled following a case in which his bodyguards assaulted a female traffic police officer.

He said that all the human right activities who came out to condemn his actions and the body guards for assaulting a female traffic police officer were not in their right mind because he didn’t beat anyone and his body guards are innocent.

Gen Kyaligonza and his bodyguards are accused of assaulting a female traffic police officer identified as Esther Namaganda.

Namaganda tried to stop Gen Kyaligonza and his bodyguards for making a U turn at Seeta around in Mukono district.

Speaking to journalist on Monday 1st April 2019 Kyaligonza said all those who are condemning him and his body guards are stupid because they have never heard his side of the story.

“How can you condemn a person whom you have not heard, are they the ones who appointed me? they are stupid, and you the so-called Members of Parliament you were busy jumping over tables, breaking microphones and you have never been recalled; are you even fair in your own mind to start judging Kyaligonza?” he asked.

He stated that whoever moved that motion is not serious and that not all Members of Parliament but just a committee.

He further stated that; parliament saying that he must be recalled, they are not the ones who appointed him and the parliament work is to confirm his appointment.

Kyaligonza also denied beating Esther Namaganda saying she should provide evidence to pin him. He also added that he will not compensate UBC journalist Mr Otai who of recent took Kyaligonza to Kampala high court for assaulting him and not respecting press freedom
