EC Clears Mugisha Muntu’s New Political Party

1 Mins read

Uganda’s political space has today welcomed a new baby in the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT).

According to former opposition FDC boss, Mugisha Muntu, his ANT has been cleared by the Electoral Commission, paving the way for an exciting road to the 2021 general elections.

“Fellow Ugandans, Today, the Electoral Commission has finally cleared our party, the Alliance for National Transformation. Please find Hon. Alaso’s full statement below. We would like to thank everyone that has stood with and for us thus far and look forward to building a Uganda that works for all of us, together,” the former FDC boss posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

His announcement puts to rest speculation that he is a spent political force.

The former army commander quit the FDC last year after he lost an election to Patrick Amuriat, the current FDC president.

According to a letter signed by Alice Alaso, the new party convener, the group expects to work on gazetting the organisation before the official launch.
