President Yoweri Museveni and his wife, Mrs. Janet Museveni, along with NRM legislators who are on a one-week long Retreat of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi District today attended Sunday church service at the Institute.
Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Government Chief Whip, religious leaders of various denominations, among others, attended the prayers that were led by Mityana Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Steven Kazimba.
The President drew thunderous applauses when he led in the singing of the hymn ‘What a friend we have in Jesus.’
He said he remembers church praise songs because he had been a member of the Youth Scripture Union until 1965 when he left having realized differences with the white clergy who had started advocating for the oppression of Africans.
President Museveni thanked Bishop Steven Kazimba for being an example of a Christian through his preaching.
Bishop Kazimba noted in a sermon that when one gives thanks to God, it helps that person to steer clear of human pride
