We Have NRM Spies In Our Offices — Opposition MPs

1 Mins read

Two days after a ruling Member of Parliament went for a retreat in Kyankwanzi, the opposition MPs are also meeting to come up with strategies of countering the ruling party.

Led by leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Achan, the members of the shadow cabinet are camping at Imperial Golf hotel, Entebbe for two days.

It’s in this meeting that the opposition has accused the technical staff attached to their offices in Parliament of spying on them in the favour of the ruling government.

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze said NRM with its greed and selfishness hires its cadres to work in Opposition offices hence requiring them to leak their information in order to frustrate their efforts.

“But we should be able to kick off the government spies from our offices,” she added

The opposition also claimed that some technical staff attached to accountability committees of parliament doctor reports in favour of the ruling party.

Opposition also added that for any person to serve in technical office as a clerk to a committee or a clerk to the leader of opposition, one must be in opposition also.

Meanwhile Obongi County Member of Parliament, Hon Fungaroo Kaps Hassan said the opposition does not have equal share of time given by the speaker to debate on the floor of parliament.

“There is need to balance the time given to opposition, we must convince the house,” he said

NRM Member of Parliament for Isingiro South, Alex Byarugaba dismissed the claim saying it’s not true

“It’s not unfair statement regarding to the time allocated to each of us, when its three minutes, its three minutes are you are timed, NRM Members of Parliament speak more because they are many,” he opined.
