Two Chinese nationals have been arrested by the fisheries protection force for illegally processing and exporting fish products especially fish mouths.

The two were arrested on Tuesday 29th with over 150kg of fish mouths which we’re found hidden in the resident ceiling at Bunga, Makindye division, Kampala.

The Chinese were arrested after the neighbours got suspicious of the kind of activities they are carrying out and tipped off the authority.

Innocent Mugabi from Ministry of Agriculture said they got information from one of the residents who told them that illegal fish processing is being carried out by Chinese.

Gordon Musinguzi of the Fisheries Protection Force confirmed the arrest and said the two Chinese had middlemen from the lake and they could get immature Nile fish, extract fish mouths process them and take them to fellow Chinese for export.

Innocent Mugabi says the two suspects will be taken to court and charged with processing and exporting fish products without license.

He further urged all the fishmen to refrain from such habit because it’s dangerous and destructive
