National Dialogue Can’t Work With So Many People In Captivity — Besigye

1 Mins read

Former Presidential candidate Rtd Col Dr Kizza Besigye on Friday addressed journalists at his home in Kasangati, Wakiso district and said that dialogue can’t work with many people in Jail.

According to Dr Besigye, a dialogue can work if it’s properly structured and not that kind where none of the participants are allowed to talk about how to manage the smooth transition of power.

“Many innocent people are jailed, murdered and others their lives are threatened. Our rallies are being blocked and we talk about dialogue? What kind of dialogue will it be?” Dr Besigye wondered.

Besigye said that dialogue is only possible when a lot of pressure is mounted on the government and they feel that there is need for it, not opposition asking for dialogue.

Besigye while citing some of the calamities that have befell the country this year such as murder, Lake Victoria boat cruise accident, human rights violation, corruption among others, he said all that will be overcome only if people work together and take action.

“2019 is the year of action and opposition must work in solidarity and coordinate on areas of organisation, mobilisation and take action in order to achieve change we desire,” he said

“Everybody knows that the problem will not go away by itself. Yes, we need to pray but praying alone will not solve anything, lets come together and take action,” he said

He also hinted on the issue of corruption and said that it starts from top to the bottom.

Besigye also highlighted some of the good things he observed this year such Uganda cranes.

Uganda Cranes qualified foe the AFCON 2019 without conceding a goal.

He wished everybody a Merry Christmas and happy New year.
