12-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Mestil Hotel Swimming Pool

Ismail Magoba, 12, drowned in In Mestil Hotel Swimming Pool and was pronounced dead upon reaching Nsambya hospital.

The incident happened last week on last week and several arrests have been made by police as investigations into the matter continue.

Among the arrested is the general manager of Mestil Hotel in Nsambya, Kampala to explain circumstances under which a 12-year-old boy drowned.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Mr Luke Oweyesigyire said the manager has been detained at Kabalagala police station as investigations into the boy’s death continue.

“Police rushed to the scene following a call from a concerned parent last evening but unfortunately we could not rescue him alive,” Oweyesigyire said.

“We are investigating rush and neglect and we have the swimming pool attendant Abubakari Abudallah in our custody,” he added.

A colleague who was with Magoba on the fateful day narrated that;

“When the water was pushing him, he said that Afande come and help me and the officer said that he is just joking and went away.”
