The Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority Ms Jolly Kaguhangire has been suspended by the Board of Directors.
In a letter dated June 26, 2018 and signed by Board chairman Emely Kugonza, the Executive Director was ordered to stay out of office for a period of 3 months.
“The Uganda Investment Authority Board of Directors at its 51th meeting of 26. June 2018 held in the Uganda Investment Authority boardroom has resolved to interdict you from office for a period of three (03) months with effect from 26th June, 2018,” reads the letter.
The letter further states the reasons of interdiction as;
“I. Abuse of office
- Insubordination:
- Misleading and lying to the Board,
- Non-compliance with implementation of the Strategic Plan in defiance of the directive of the Minister of Finance and Board of directors on the one year implementations
- Closure of a public office without authorization (UlA Namanve Office).
- Serious corruption allegations made by UlA staff against you that touch on your integrity as head of the institution and image of UIA.”
The letter further informs Ms Kaguhangire that a select committee to investigate the allegations has been instituted
“The Board has appointed a Select Committee to investigate the grounds of interdiction and you will be availed an opportunity to defend yourself before the Select Committee.
“You are accordingly directed to hand over office to Mr Basil Ajer, Director SME STI who will act during the time of your interdiction
During the interdiction and in accordance with the Public Service Standing Orders Section F.s .8, you will be entitled to half pay of your salary”
