Former Lord Mayor Contestant Sent To Luzira over Shs575Million Fake Gold Deal

Leon Muhammed Kasule, a former Kampala Lord Mayor has been sent to Luzira prison over his involvement in Shs575Million Fake Gold Deal.

Buganda Road Chief Magistrate James Ereemye sent him to Luzira after he denied three counts of obtaining money by false pretence.

Prosecution opines that Kasule in June 2017, Kilemerwa met Richards who had gone to the DRC embassy in the United States to get a visa to Congo to buy Gold.

She then connected him to Kasule for help.

Huge amounts of money meant for purchase of gold were channelled through Kiremerwa’s Eco Bank accounts to Kasule.

Though Kasule through his lawyers Ms Aminah Zawedde, applied for bail, it was denied on grounds that he would jeopardize the investigations.

State prosecutor Mr Jonathan Muwaganya, requested court to remand the suspect until April 13, when he will respond to his bail application after scrutinizing the sureties’ documents.
