As the end of Semester exams are kicking off, Police has deployed heavily at Makerere University to ensure security is guaranteed in this period.

According to the university academic registrar, Alfred Masikye, increased deployment is aimed at preventing students who have not fully paid tuition not to sit for Exams.

“You are aware that there are some people that have not paid money, there are those who are still in the banks so if these fellows miss an exam, they try to use force in order to access the examination hall,” said Masikye before adding that; “We have put up that measure to ensure that such categories of Students are prevented from sitting the exams.

This website understands that recently the university staff has been threatening to strike over non-payment of their arrears.

Medical students also requested the University management to postpone exams since they have not been oriented enough due to the ongoing Doctor’s strike.
